History of Myon lighters
MYON GOLDSMITHS SINCE 1919
To be at the Top of one's profession requires much effort, perseverance and time. When MYON was created in 1919 it was like many
other companies just a craft workshop which only made small series of items for smokers.
Then from 1928 MYON was developed by Georges Marguet and Jérémie Romain and quickly reached the size of a national company which in the 60’s started to export.
We are proud when we look at the old yellow photos, of the groups of workers of the 30's who forged our company into what it is today.
Over the years the range of pro¬ducts has increased :
1947 - Creation of the MYON gas lighter 1965 - Appearance of the % first watch models.
1972 - Manufacturing under licence for other big com¬panies.
1986 - Launching of the PRES¬TIGE Model after 67 years of experience.
The traditions of the goldsmith’s trade, the know how and the skill of our craftsmen have not chan¬ged.
In this brochure you will disco¬ver that the utilization of the most sophisticated machines has not been able to replace the skilled hand of the craftsman or woman
for the most delicate stages of production.
Creation, assembly, finishing inspection : all the operations that make the quality of the goldsmith’s work reflect the men and women who have known

FRENCH CREATIVITY
To create a model in gold will always be an art, the fruit of much creative imagination and much patience.Often two years go by between the first sketch of the designer and the trial series which will be tested on the market.
Two years of creation, but also of study and teamwork between stylists, technicians and marke¬ting men.
Two years which will make a MYON model - be it a lighter, watch, key-ring, pen - a model that is different.
With their designers, research and development team and pro¬totype craftsmen, MYON invests in this permanent research.
TRUSTEES OF PROPER TRADE PRACTICES
If our lighters and our watches are appreciated throughout the world and if the famous brandnames entrust their work to us it is because we are firm in our respect for proper trade prac¬tices.
Let us just quote two which enable us to guarantee products of irreproachable qua¬lity.
Firstly, only use materials which are noble and severely controlled. Then only use production technique which are extremely reliable and precise.
Located in the Doubs, in the heart of the French watchmaking area, MYON is also close to the international watch centre of La Chaux de Fonds.
In this region with skilled craftsmen MYON has been able to find men for modem machines. Today machi¬nes with numeric control produce better and more quickly,
but confronted with the necessity of developing production our quality control tests. have remained severe.
A GREAT TRADITION
After creating a new model, .after setting up the hu¬man and technical means nee¬ded for high quality production,
something else has to be added to make the client say: “That’s a MYON all right”.
Like the lighter reproduced on this page: such a pure decora¬tion can only be obtained with special machines fitted with dia¬mond tools.
MYON has a pool of 25 machines used only to decorate their models.
MASTERY OF THE PRODUCTTo make a high class lighter or watch many techniques have to be mastered: machining, diamond grinding, electroplating, polishing, lacquering...
To be able to master the quality we have incorporated all the workshops we need into our production line. Thus, we have our electroplating line which was completely modernized in 1985.
In this workshop the treatments can be constantly controlled. In the polishing shop the work is done on a lathe as it has always been done.
DESIRE FOR PERFECTION
To complete the decoration on our diamond finished or polished models we also have a wide range genuine lacquer decorations.
Seven consecutive layers for one single decoration. An extremely fine lapping and polishing are required to enable you to appreciate the appearance and feel of a MYON model.
AND FINALLY QUALITY
During the production we have inspected one by one the components of the watch or lighter. Despite this the assembled models will not leave our factory
until after they have undergone their final control. First visual appearance. One by one each of the products is exa-mined.
If it does not comply exactly with the standards it is rejected. Then a set of rigorous tests check the good working order of the product to the satisfaction of the user.
MYON is the continued heritage of the qualities of the Great Tradition of Franche-Comté and French watchmakers and goldsmiths.
